MCX in association with Gujarat Department of Post in association with CAIRN India launched a new GSK center at Bhatia in Jamnagar district of Gujarat. The opening of GSK center and Branch Post Master’s training program was held on 17th March 2011. Bhatia GSK center Sub Post Office is linked to 18 Branch Post Offices and reaches out 37 villages touching lives of more than 5,000 farmers and a population of more than 20,000. The major Agri commodities grown in the area are wheat, cotton, castor and cumin.
This is the 6th GSK center in Gujarat and 26th across India. With the launch of Bhatia center GSK now reaches to more than 2500 villages through 458 branch post offices and has more than 13,000 registered farmer members. |

World HIV/AIDS Day 2010 was observed with full vigor and enthusiasm in 3 GSK locations covering 15 villages in Maharashtra. There were series of programmes conducted in collaboration with Sahara Aids Control Society from 01-07 Dec 2010. These are…
- Rally and street play were organized where school children participated to create awareness on HIV/AIDS.
- Villagers attended session on HIV/AIDS prevention where Information, Education and Communication (IEC ) materials were distributed.
- HIV/AIDS Testing camp for pregnant women and for interested villagers.

| MCX and Rajasthan Department of Post launched a new Gramin Suvidha Kendra center at Masuda Sub Post office in Ajmer district of Rajasthan. The Masuda S.O. is under the jurisdiction of Beawar head post office around 25 kms from Masuda. The opening of the center and Branch Post Master’s training program was held on 28th September 2010 at Upobhogta Bhavan training hall. Masuda GSK center Sub Post Office is linked to 18 Branch Post Offices and reaches out 85 villages touching life’s of more than 20,000 Farmers and a population of more than 100,000. Patient
Assistance
program:
a collaborative
effort between

MCX’s Gramin Suvidha Kendra in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has helped 8 girls from 2 GSK centers at Babhulgaon (Dist: Yavatmal) and Deoli (Dist: Wardha) for admission to the Dr Hedgewar hospitals’ Patient Assistance (PA) course at Kapri around 15 kms from Nagpur in Maharashtra. The course is funded by Johnson and Johnson (J&J) under its Niramaya project at the cost of Rs 25,000 per participant that includes fees, lodging and boarding expenses.
The PA program is a one year course with the objective of training the students on understanding of basic’s of medical treatment with a mix of theory and practical session at the hospital premises. It is a certificate course under the yasvantrao Chavan Open University. Morning 10.00 am-1.00pm all the students are attached to a doctor in OPD and post lunch from 2.00 pm-5.00 pm class room sessions are conducted.
The selected girls are from the GSK villages and have either their father or uncle as a GSK member. All the girls are from economically weak background, 12th pass and with an inclination to study more and be independent.
Mr. Dhananjay Nandpatel from Sahara Aids control Society (NGO), MCX NGO partner for implementation of GSK at Deoli, Babhulgaon and Dhamangaon played a key role to motivate and liaison at various stages.
The admission forms were filled on 27th August and the course begins from 1st Sept 2010. The girls were briefed by the principle Dr Urmila Khsirsagar and joint secretary Dr Mrudula Bapat during their admission on 27th at the campus of Dr. Hedgewar hospital.
“I am very happy to have my niece Ms Kavita Wase do the Patient Assistance course at the Dr. Hedgewar hospital. This will help her to be financially independent and support our family. We thank all the people and organizations involved in supporting her.
Kavita was a good student from her initial school days and is one of the very few girls who have completed 12th in our village. Her studies over, her father would have started searching a bride for her, had this unique opportunity not come her way. It will also help us get a good groom for her”

This GSK centre is located at Jewargi Sub Post office in Gulbarga Postal division of Karnataka. Inaugural function and training program for the Branch Post Master's (BPM's) was held on 23rd July 2010 at Taluka Panchayat Hall, Jewargi. The program was attended by Postal officials, MCX representative, Agriculture department (Z.P. Gulbarga) and GSK partners. Jewargi GSK center Sub Post Office has 27 Branch Post Offices and covers 74 villages touching lives of more than 30,000 Farmers. |

| The Adult literacy initiative (Proudh Shiksha Abhiyan in Marathi) was initiated on 30th April 2010 at Jalgaon Gramin Suvidha Kendra center, Fukhnagari village, Maharashtra. The program was inaugurated by the Superintendent of Post Office-Jalgaon Division Mr. S.N. Patil and was presided over by Mr. Vilas Sonawane (Zilla Parishad, Member) and Mr. Jadhav (Fukhnagari Sarpanch). The program has already registered 20 women from the village. Considering the social structure of the village only women participants were enrolled in the 1st batch and a separate batch for men will be initiated soon. |

The first All India GSK Coordinators Capacity building program for GSK Coordinators was organized on 08th - 10th June, 2009 at Jalgaon. The program was in partnership with and our partners Aries Agro Ltd., WRIMS and Ion Exchange. The objective of this training program was to brief up the coordinators about the company and its products which would help them to perform better.
The first day of the training program ie. 08th June,2009 was conducted by Aries Agro Ltd. Mr. Chintan gave a brief introduction about Aries Agro its operations and products and also explained need of micronutrient in Indian agriculture. Mr. Ramesh Shetty (Aries agro) detailed land classification and briefed about nutrient deficiency in soil across India. The coordinators were also briefed on the technical details of Aries products and recommendation to farmers as per soil nutrient deficiency. Mr. Ravindra Mohite briefed about marketing aspects of the Aries products, necessity of micronutrient to farmers its application time period and dosage for different crops for Aries products.
On 9th June training program was conducted by FT Group, WRIMS and Ion Exchange. A brief introduction about MCX and FT group, GSK, its inception, growth and future plan was given by Mr. Amol Bhalerao. Also a brief on NSEL, NBHC and ATOM Technologies and its operations was given by the respective representatives.
Mr. Arnidam Baidya (WRIMS) detailed why farmer needs weather insurance and its benefits. Various other factors like understanding the weather insurance product, understanding the risk covered and risk which are excluded, the process involved from marketing to settlement of claims, Scratch card based services for farmers were explained to the coordinators which involved marketing of WRIMS products.
Mr. Prashant Mandke (Ion Exchange) introduced Ion Exchange and its products for retail, customers and large community projects. Marketing and fund generation in community projects, need for safe drinking water in rural communities and types of impurities was also explained during the training.
On 10th June 2009 a field visit of all the GSK coordinators was conducted in Mamurabad village and Kadgaon village.

| In December 2008, MCX and Bayer CropScience, entered into a strategic alliance to set up GSK at Ron, Karnataka. Financially assisted by Bayer CropScience, MCX will oversee the complete implementation, execution and monitoring of this centre. With this centre, MCX sets its first GSK in Southern India. Besides spot and futures price information, GSK will provide quality agri inputs, warehousing, weather insurance, query redressal and non agri rural products. The agreement was signed between Mr Venkat Chary, Chairman, MCX and Mr Jens Hartmann, Country Head India, Head of Bayer CropScience, South Asia. |

BPM Felicitation Program at Unjha/Itarsi and Dhamangaon |

| As part of the Postal week starting from October 9, 2007, MCX organized a small felicitation program for Branch Post Master’s who did extremely well in their respective village in convincing farmers and bringing in membership for GSK Project.
Dhamangaon
Felicitation of BPMs at Dhamangaon was held on 12th October with Manager and Senior Executive from MCX attending the ceremony. The guest of Honor for the function was Mr. Suresh Kishan Bijekar SPM Dhamangaon and officers from United Phosphorous Limited - Mr. Sanjay Raut, Regional Manager, Akola and Mr. Sanjay Bhandekar. Field Executives were also present for the function. Two BPMs were felicitated with Certificate and cash prize for bringing in maximum registration in the region. The BPMs were quiet motivated by this function. The function was attended by the staff of Sub Post Office Dhamangaon Rly and all BPMs under the region.
Unjha
Felicitation of BPMs at Unjha was held on 13th October with guest of Honor for the function was Mr. Amba Lal Patel; Sub Post Master Unjha Two BPMs were felicitated with Certificate and cash prize for bringing in maximum registration in the region. Other BPMs under GSK Platform were also appreciated for their effort. Speaking on the occasion was Mr. Mayur Bhanushali GSK Coordinator at Unjha and Mr. Amba Lal Patel.
Itarsi
Felicitation of BPMs at Unjha was held on 15th October with Mr. R.K Ark, Superintendent of Post Itarsi and Mr. A K Kumhra Deputy SPM Itarsi as guest of Honor. Two BPMs were felicitated with Certificate and cash prize for bringing in maximum registration in the region. Speaking on the occasion were Mr. Ritesh Tiwari, GSK Coordinator at Itarsi, Mr. A K Ark S P and Mr. A K Kumhre Deputy SPM.

Independence Day celebrations at GSK Centers |
|

| Independence Day was celebrated at the Jalgaon and Unjha GSK centres in the presence of farmers, local panchayats, GSK coordinators and MCX business development representatives. The flag-hoisting ceremony created a sense of belongingness and togetherness among the farmers and MCX. It also helped spread the message of GSK amongst the farmers present for the event. In Jalgaon, the flag hoisting took place at Kadgaon and Idgaon. In Unjha, the flag hoisting took place at a school at Shankarpura Village within Upera Branch Post office. |
